ELSA LANCHESTER: SHE'S ALIVE! at Chicago's Venus Theater

If you know me, you know I love old movies (and paying theatrical tribute to old movies), so when the wonderful writer-performer Charlotte Booker asked me to direct her very funny, poignant solo show, I immediately said yes. Charlotte's play is a recreation of classic film actor Elsa Lanchester's early 1960's cabaret act, as Elsa looks back on her life and career, dishes about Hollywood icons, and tells tales of her starring roles in classics like THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and MARY POPPINS. The show goes a step further from cabaret territory by taking some theatrical peeks at other aspects of Elsa's fascinating life.

We run Wed. & Thu. Oct. 9-31 at the Venus Theater in Chicago, so come see us! Tickets here. Produced by Aislinn Frantz, featuring Mark Nutter on the keys and Gabe Kohlbeck as the Prompter. Stage manager: Tuesday Thacker, Lighting design: Eric Watkins, Sound design: Dee Etti-Williams.
